Supermodel Jayne Moore’s day job is to look fabulous for her clients, advertisers who want to seduce us into buying their wonderful products. Whether she is posing for Bloomingdales, Macy’s, or Saks, Moore needs to look fresh, crisp, and together. Fortunately for us, she doesn’t leave all of the work to lighting designers, or hair and make-up technicians. For Jayne Moore, the secret to looking good is feeling good, and the secret to feeling good is to maintain a positive attitude, as well as a healthy diet. However, for all of the health and beauty secrets that many of us have already taken to our hearts, Moore offers tips that many people might find…unconventional.
For example, do you have an old avocado in your fridge, one that might be a bit smushy? Moore’s advice is to not throw it out, but to smash it up, pack it on the ends of your hair, twizzle it up, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Yep, that’s what she suggests. Moore admits that this will feel a bit weird, but she advises us to “suck it up, it’s worth it.”
She is also a very big advocate of antioxidants and the power of food, “but it doesn’t have to be all bitter berries and pungent noni juice”, she say’s with a mischievous smile, “I am especially fond of those found in kale, dark chocolate, and full-bodied red wine…” She believes that fine foods in their raw state are fuel for our fire, there to charge every cell in our bodies and boost our immune systems and that we have a fully stocked medicine cabinet available to us in the food isles and fresh produce sections of the grocery store. But just for the record, Jayne wanted to remind us that “red wine and dark chocolate are both full of polyphenols including Proanthocyanidin, a powerful antioxidant. In fact, some red wines have more antioxidants than commercial grape juice, raw blueberries, and even miracle fruits like Açaí.”
